For the first time, we celebrated an event in London that was conducted entirely in English in order to accommodate approximately 60 guests, all from Hilldrop Community Centre fulfilling the Foundation’s Strategic Line “Help Us to Help”. An event dedicated to our valued older adults and people with disabilities, aimed at providing a day full of joy while promoting social inclusion and recognising their importance in our community.
The afternoon was filled with entertainment and enjoyment while taking care of our special guests through activities that promoted physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Engaging physical activities were carried out, in which our guests participated in didactic games fostering the importance of their self-care.
They also watched a performance that promoted the socio-emotional skill of empathy and the value of solidarity, by portraying a play with different life situations. Throughout the day, our guests expressed their feelings of appreciation, happiness, and amazement due to the loving care received from our volunteers.
Additionally, our guests enjoyed the live music performances of a mix from the 50s, 60s and 70s. Likewise, since the event was hosted on International Women’s Day, we took the opportunity to celebrate it together with all female attendees by giving them a present on this lovely day. They also enjoyed manicures with intricate nail designs to encourage continuous self-care regardless of age.
Another activity took place in the dining area, where our guests participated in interactive games that included singing and guessing songs, giving them the opportunity to win prizes while enjoying refreshments. This day was also complemented by gift distributions, including wellness baskets with personal hygiene products for each of our participants. All the guests left with smiles on their faces, expressing deep gratitude for this memorable moment and for having spent a day filled with attention and care.
The Foundation extends its heartfelt thanks to Hilldrop Community Centre and all the event’s supporters and sponsors, including Nisa Local among others.
Thanks to the commitment of Dr. Maria Luisa Piraquive, along with volunteers and donors, the Foundation continues to expand its reach and touch the lives of those in need.
