A wonderful day for families from across London was organized by volunteers of the Maria Luisa de Moreno International Foundation. The event took place at Duke’s Aldridge Academy in Tottenham, where 400 guests were welcomed to enjoy a day of fun while practicing important values through games and activities.
A fabulous play entitled “Size Does Not Define Our Abilities” was presented to the audience. This performance highlighted the values of respect and inclusion, and promoted socioemotional skills such as teamwork, empathy and conflict resolution. The Ormy Show was also part of the entertainment. Music and folkloric dances were performed, offering an enjoyable experience for all ages.
Throughout the day, a variety of games were held both indoors in the main hall and outdoors on the sports field. Indoors, the activities played by families and volunteers focused on the value of respect and the practice of active listening to strengthen family ties, once again encouraging socioemotional skills.
Outdoors, the children were organized according to age and, together with their parents, took part in different activities which highlighted the importance of team play and solidarity. The children learned the value of families working together as a team, while recognizing solidarity as an essential principle of family life, and understanding that helping and supporting others strengthens emotional bonds.
As the event drew to a close, each family received a board game to encourage them to continue sharing quality time together at home. The children were also given vitamin D supplements to help strengthen their immune system during the months with less sunlight.
We thank Dr María Luisa Piraquive for making these events possible, encouraging teamwork among family members and promoting collaboration, mutual respect and active participation of all.
The Maria Luisa de Moreno International Foundation extends its gratitude to the donors and the volunteers who contributed to the success of the Family Integration Event in North London.
