The Calgary City Hall Recognizes the Work Done by the Foundation in the City

The mayor of Calgary Naheed Nehshi thanked the Maria Luisa de Moreno International Foundation for the work, support, generosity and time they have provided in helping cleanup Calgary in the 49th Annual Pathway and River Cleanup.

Since 1967, this is an annual event that takes place on the first Sunday of May, where thousands of registered volunteers help to cleanup the trash from Calgary’s parks, pathways and river banks. The Calgary residents this way help the city have a more secure, clean and healthy environment.

Before the activity begins the volunteers are divided into groups, are provided their own team leader and are designated an area where they try to clean up as much trash as possible during the day.

In this event, the Maria Luisa de Moreno International Foundation volunteers were included in the close to 2,500 registered volunteers that collected more than 5,000 kilograms of trash. Once the trash was collected it was then transported to a trash deposit assigned by city hall.
