With dedication to empowering and uplifting children, the Maria Luisa de Moreno International Foundation hosted an inspiring One Day for Kids event in New Westminster, BC, on August 17, 2024. This year, the event embraced the theme of Sports and saw 60 children between the ages of 5 to 15 actively participate in an array of exciting sports activities.
The day was filled with energy and enthusiasm as the children took part in 10 different sports, including target shooting, tug-of-war, cornhole, badminton, lawn darts, jump rope, and more. Each activity was carefully chosen to encourage teamwork, physical fitness, and friendly competition. The atmosphere buzzed with excitement as the children embraced the challenges of the day with smiles and determination.
Adding to the joy of the event, the children were thrilled by a series of raffles featuring wonderful prizes. Among the giveaways were sports balls, toys, and two brand-new bicycles, bringing even more cheer to the lucky winners.
One of the highlights of the day was the Emotions Roulette game, through which the children learned valuable lessons on how to understand and manage their emotions. This educational component of the event added an important layer of personal development, helping the kids cultivate emotional intelligence while having fun.
In addition to the activities, the children were treated to snack bags. To cap off the event, each participant received a set of badminton rackets for two players as a special gift, a fitting token of the event’s sports theme.
